Oklahoma City Library Staff Members
Robbed at Gunpoint
Two men robbed seven staff members at gunpoint at the Capitol Hill branch of the Oklahoma County Metropolitan Library System in Oklahoma City March 25.
The pair followed a delivery driver through the back entrance into the technical processing department at about 8:15 a.m., before the library opened, said Public Affairs Officer Julia Fresonke. One of the men, who carried a gun, ordered the victims to hand over their valuables. The robbers then fled with a wallet and two purses. A homeless man subsequently found some of the wallet's contents and turned them over to authorities.
One staff member, who was pistol-whipped by the gunman, was treated at a hospital and released. Fresonke said that the branch was closed for the day, and counselors were brought in.
