Once the initiative was in place we submitted a paper to a conference and it was accepted. The presentation was well received by the attendees and interest continued long after the conference experience was over. It was then that I realized how important it is to share your expertise and experiences with your peers. A more recent accomplishment was working on an NLM grant funded project to create the library's website. The site assists health care clinicians with selecting and managing the information they need, when they need it. While the grant is complete, we continue to improve the site and the next iteration will be released in Spring 2008. Within ALA I am most proud of the work I did as the LITA Web Manager and chair of the ALA Web Advisory Committee. This work reminded me that change may not happen quickly but with patience, perseverance and collaboration you can make a difference.

STATEMENT: LITA, through all of its activities, creates an environment that supports the development of emerging technologies, explores how technologies impact librarians, the library and their users; but most importantly fosters an environment where members can discuss and share their ideas, concerns, success and, failures. LITA also has an active role to play in educating and promoting the membership's positions on information technology policies and standards. At the same time, LITA must actively recruit new members, as well as retain its current membership. We can do this by continuing to improve our current publications and education opportunities, as well as actively explore new avenues and innovative approaches that reach out to our membership. Finally, as the technology division of ALA, we must play an active role in supporting and advancing technology within the association. I hope I will have the opportunity to continue to serve you as LITA's Vice-President/President-elect.
