DESCRIPTION: Position available July 1,
2009 Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic
Affairs, the Chief Librarian will provide strategic direction and vision for
the Library and AIT, encompassing both library services and services that
promote effective teaching and learning with technology. In collaboration with the Assistant Vice
President for Information Technology, the Chief Librarian shares responsibility
for the planning and implementation of IT services on campus. In collaboration with the University
Librarian and other CUNY library leaders, the Chief Librarian participates in
the development of cooperative library services within CUNY and beyond. The Chief Librarian serves as advocate and
spokesperson for the Brooklyn College Library on campus, locally, statewide and
nationwide.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will qualify
for appointment to the rank of Professor, i.e., will have an ALA-accredited MLS
or MLIS and a master’s degree in a discipline; a doctorate is preferred. The candidate will have a record of scholarly
and professional achievement and ten or more years of progressively responsible
library management experience, with five or more years in an academic or
research library; will possess excellent interpersonal and oral and written
communication skills; and will provide evidence of effective resource
management and demonstrated knowledge of traditional library functions,
emerging technologies, and trends in higher education and their impact on
library services. The successful
candidate will have a proven ability to manage academic information technology
services; five or more years of experience in such a capacity is highly
desirable. Also required are a
commitment to service-oriented collaboration and outreach with multiple campus
constituencies, experience with assessment and strategic planning in academe,
and a strong record as a leader and a manager of professional staff, with a
demonstrated commitment to diversity and building a diverse faculty and staff.

public use workstations.

DESCRIPTION: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), established in 1884, is the world's oldest and largest private institution devoted to prevention, patient care, research and education in cancer. The MSKCC library supports the clinical, research and education programs within the Center (Memorial Hospital, Sloan-Kettering Institute and Gerstner Sloan-Kettering Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences). As the head of the MSKCC library, reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will set the vision, develop an innovative information environment and enhance our specialized collection of electronic resources for the optimal use by the MSKCC community and our collaborative partners.
In this visible role, you will collaboratively develop strategies for information management and delivery that will leverage the potential of new technologies, databases, the Internet, new forms of scholarly publishing and other resources for medical education and research. Specific duties will encompass utilizing knowledge management in education, clinical practice, research and community service to strategically manage a complex operation, oversee staff and collaborate with educational partners. QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will possess an MLS from an ALA accredited program or equivalent and a minimum of five years progressive leadership experience in a library or information-related field. Demonstrated successes in redefining programs, exploiting information technology, implementing new services, and fostering strategic partnerships are essential. DESCRIPTION: Syracuse University Library is seeking a Web Technical Professional who will work both independently and collaboratively to provide highly specialized expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of current and future web interfaces and technologies (Website, OPAC, Digital Collections, Federated Searching, Web 2.0, RSS Feeds, etc.) that provide user access to the Library's resources and services. Organizes Web projects and manages direct and indirect resources related to those projects. Collaborates and leads discussion with library staff, committees, groups, and departments regarding website and application interface functionality. Leads decision making on new software and technological solutions to Web presentation and delivery. Provides leadership on website policy and technical standards and adherence to those standards / policies. Develops a strategic direction for the Library Web environment and implements changes as necessary. Creates a supportive, collaborative atmosphere and works with Library administration and management to establish task lists, policies and procedures, priorities, and timelines.
