Immersion Program

ACRL's Immersion Program provides instruction librarians with the opportunity to work intensively for four-and-a-half days on all aspects of information literacy. Whether your institution is just beginning to think about implementing an information literacy component or whether you have a program well under way, the Immersion Program will provide your instruction librarian with the intellectual tools and practical techniques to help your institution build or enhance its instruction program.

"Immersion was a wonderful experience.  I’ve emerged with new energy and many ideas to try.  I couldn’t recommend it highly enough." Past Immersion Participant

"It helped develop my understanding of information literacy and it helped me to understand myself better as a teacher." Past Immersion Participant

"Immersion was enlightening on personal and professional levels-I feel that I have been given an array of tools to use in empowering both my colleagues at home, my students and myself as I progress in my career." Past Immersion Participant

Details about the 2009 Immersion Program - July 26, 31, 2009, St. Petersburg, Florida
Applications are now being accepted for Immersion '09!  December 8, 2008 is the deadline to apply.  2009 will bring a new structure to the Immersion Program: for the first time, Intentional Teacher & Assessment Immersion will be offered simultaneously, in late fall 2009.  Teacher Track & Program Track will continue to be offered together in summer 2009.  This new schedule blends Immersion programs with similar formats and lengths to offer a more cohesive Immersion experience.
