At the Midwinter ACIG reporting session, our speakers described various developments in the field:

Library of Congress Update (PowerPoint)

Ann Della Porta, Assistant Coordinator of the ILS Program at the Library of Congress on issues related to authorities. These included, in part, a snapshot of statistics from the Database Improvement Unit, changes to subject headings for God, Greek and Chinese characters added to LCC, and non-roman data in authorities. An opportunity for questions was provided following her report.

OCLC Update (PDF handout)

Our OCLC update was distributed as a handout prepared by Glenn Patton and Becky Dean. It provided news on Z39.50 access for name and subject authority records, the authority history database, and the OCLC terminologies project.

Authority Control Vendors--Twenty Questions

Representatives from three MARCIVE, LTI, and Backstage described the services by responding to a common list of questions and further questions from the audience. These speakers were:
