DATE: 01/25/2009 GROUP: Authority Control in the Online Environment Interest Group CHAIR: Mary Mastraccio REPORTER: Mary Mastraccio EMAIL: marym@marcive.com CONFERENCE: Midwinter Meeting MEETING: IG Business Meeting ATTENDEES: 20 CURRENT ACTIVITIES: The business meeting discussed future conferences, up-coming elections and the need to have a greater web presence for the group. It was agreed that in addition to providing opportunities for showcasing cutting edge developments, the group needs to do more to provide the cataloging community with education, current developments, resources, and discussion of topics related to authority control. These services may be offered through ALA conference programs, pre-conferences, or online wikis or blogs. FUTURE ACTIVITIES: The ALA Annual 2009 conference ACIG program will be The Future is Now: Global Authority Control. |
