Force a Librarian to Work at the Reference Desk with Purple Hair

That's exactly what Dawn Rutherford had to do when the teens in her library accepted the challenge. As a part of the Lake Hills Library (Bellevue Washington, part of the King County Library System) summer reading program teens were challenged to read 50,000 pages. If they did Rutherford promised to dye her hair purple. When the teens read 53,000 pages Dawn fulfilled her promise. (The teens actually read 54,299 pages.)
